There seem to be no extent that our fellow Nigerians would not go just to make this hard currency, popularly known as "ego-igwe" by our eastern brothers. Just recently an Enugu based business man was arrested when drugs were detected in his luggage compartment of an Etihad Airline flight from Brazil to Nigeria. His modus-operandi which may have worked for him was exposed, as the airport authorities discovered that the man opens up the soles of women shoes and conceal hard drugs in them, and then glues it back. When he was arrested and heavily interrogated he opened up and confessed :
"I live and work in Brazil. I was given the drug with a promise that I will be handsomely rewarded if I successfully deliver the bag in Nigeria. They also assured me that somebody will help me in collecting the bags at the airport in Nigeria. Unfortunately, officers demanded to search my bag and in the process, the cocaine was found in my bag,” he said."
